" ... Best camera ever!! ... "
" ... A leap ahead for Nikon! ... "
" ... My 3rd Nikon and love it ... "
" ... After 10years with my d90 I finally upgraded to the d500. ... Love my new camera!! ... "
" ... This is a beauty of a camera. ... I'm coming from a Nikon D5000 series, so there are several features that are very nice upgrades. ... This is an expensive camera, but I have been very happy that I splurged and got this instead of the new D7500. ... "
" ... Excellent camera and lens set. ... "
" ... This camera will go down as a legend . ... "
" ... and the quality of the camera and pictures are night and day. ... The day after I purchased this camera, my wife bought one as well. ... The camera does not have a lot of bells and whistles (sunset mode, fireworks etc) as it is more of a professional camera (or highest enthusiast model) and these features would take up valuable real estate on the camera body. ... " ... A leap ahead for Nikon! ... "
" ... My 3rd Nikon and love it ... "
" ... I purchased the camera body initially, but I then added the 16-80mm that comes in most kits, and that lens is also excellent. ... "
" ... Excellent camera and lens set. ... "
" ... Yes, the price is a big consideration however, I have owned a Canon Rebel DSLR as well as a Nikon D3200, D5200 and D7200 (notice I go up the line) respectively ... "
" ... I have two Nikon FX cameras and wanted a DX to extend the range of my lenses. ... "
" ... Nikon got this one so right! ... "
" ... After trying many cropped cameras and finally settling on the FF Canon 6d which I used a few years for wedding and event photography, I was still searching for a camera with better IQ. ... Then the Nikon d750 came out and I bought one with the 24-120 f4. ... I loved the files and DR range so much, I brought another one with the 24-85mm lens as a backup and for use with the 16-35mm lens. ... I received the d500 with the 16-80 lens on Friday and did extensive testing against the d750. ... I find the 16-80 lens sharper than the FF 24-120, and I shoot with it at f4. ... The IQ and sharpness of my photos are better with the d500 +16-80 @ f4 ISO 1600, than the d750 + 24-120 @ f6.3 ISO 2,000. ... I was extremely impressed with the 16-80 lens which is sharp at f4 ( I didn't test it at 2.8 because mostly use one aperture with different shutter speeds and ISO). ... The lens is razor sharp at all focal lengths. ... The photos were sharper with the 16-80 lens at f4 than the d750 and 24-120 at f6.3 (I always shot with that lens at f6.3 for increased sharpness)! ... When I used the 24-120 lens, always wished for the sharpness I had with Canon's 24-105 lens. ... Well, I got it back with the 16-80 lens! ... The 16-80 lens is also much lighter than the 24-120 so it's really fun to use and I don't feel like I'm holding a brick ( especially when I have the sb-910 flash attached to the camera). ... It may be the lenses though, I have not switched lenses to test if it's the sensor or lens, but I'm assuming it's the sensor. ... However, it will also weigh more and for some of us camera weight with the weight of attached lenses (FF vs cropped), is a considerable factor, especially considering the amount of hours we carry the camera ( or cameras) at weddings and events. ... In summary, the d500, which has the shutter and aperture lock and sufficient AF points and IQ as good as the d750, makes for an excellent camera to shoot weddings with! ... I realized that I can shoot video with the d500 with the wide end of my zoom lens set to 16mm (24mm FF equivelent), aperture set to f5.6 with the subject at least 20 feet from the camera which in this case scenario the depth of field is to infinity so everything stays in focus even if the subject moves. ... I now use this camera to get wide video shots and my other cameras that focus reliably (but have smaller sensors) to zoom into the subjects and pan. ... I'm waiting anxiously for a Nikon APSC mirrorless camera that will focus quickly during video, with a 16-80mm lens for that mirrorless camera that will focus silently and quickly. ... Coupled with the 16-80 lens's better clarity, sharpness and lower weight compared to the 24-120, it's simply a winnining combination for portraiture, wedding and event photography. ... "

" ... However, the touch screen is a great feature because it allows you to zoom in to 100% on a picture to check for focus and then skip from picture to picture to compare focus without having to zoom in on each picture. ... "
" ... So many good things about this camera, fast focus, familiar menu system, fast continuous shooting, good battery life, and the list goes on. ... "
" ... Focusing is amazing! ... "

In summary, the d500, which has the shutter and aperture lock and sufficient AF points and IQ as good as the d750, makes for an excellent camera to shoot weddings with! ... I found that the touch focus is great for focusing on the subject before the video starts so it's great for interviews and subjects that stay in one place. ... And so I started using manual focusing with the d500, but with no focus peaking it makes it virtually impossible to be 100% sure that you are getting focus especially when I or the object is moving. ... " ... This is especially/most true for learning about all of the auto-focus options ... "
" ... The focus tracking system has been incredible for surf and kite photography. ... "

" ... It pained them to admit it, but they both noticed how much faster my burst mode collected shots and how much better the image quality was in low light. ... "
" ... All of your options are easily accessible on top of the camera (ISO, WB, Picture Quality). ... "
" ... Incredible image quality & speed of operation. ... "
" ... Not just the picture quality but the way the camera handles and the durability is fantastic. ... "
" ... These photos took little effort on my part. ... "
" ... - Double the size of the image (20megs instead of 12megs) ... - I can take a lot less picture. ... "
" ... Blown away by image and video quality, not to mension ISO capability. ... "
" ... The picture have been phenomenal and the camera is a pleasure to use. ... "
